How to Clean Your Bathroom Using Green Products?

Cleaning of toilets, clogged drains, and bathrooms are chores for most of the homeowners. Our foremost priority, while cleaning the bathroom, is to ensure complete elimination of the soap scum and germs. We often tend to use harsh chemicals to get this done. However, it is important to note that these chemicals can linger in the water, and air to cause serious health related concerns for us. These toxic materials can also get into the wastewater stream and contaminate the environment around us. Fortunately, there are many eco-friendly products that can be used to keep our bathrooms clean and healthy.

All of us love to see our toilets sparkling white. Interestingly, there are non toxic, homemade products that can accomplish this just as well as the harmful chemicals. Create a mixture of one spoon of baking soda and ½ cup of vinegar. Pour this mixture directly to the bowl of the toilet and allow it to settle for around half an hour before scrubbing. You can keep your toilet sparkling white by repeating this process once every week.

Baking soda is available in all households and is a great alternative to remove soap scum. The paste formed by mixing a natural soap with baking soda is extremely efficient in removing soap scum. It can also eliminate rust and hard water stains from ceramic tiles. However, this paste should be used sparingly on surfaces that are delicate because of its abrasive nature.

Vinegar can be used effectively in bathrooms as a mold cleaner. It is mildly acidic in nature and can kill bacterial species. It is possible to prevent mold by spraying a mixture of vinegar and water down the shower after using it. Do you have a scummy shower curtain in your bathroom? In case of nominal buildups, wipe cleaning with baking soda or a vinegar solution should be sufficient. However, for mildew or tougher buildup, the better option is to scrub it after taking it off the hooks.

The most common reason behind the clogging of bathroom drains is hair. Drain cleaning chemicals available in the market mostly consists of sodium hypochlorite and sodium hydroxide. Both these chemicals are capable of causing permanent damage to the contact surface. Therefore, instead of using these toxic drain cleaners, make your own eco friendly toilet cleaner at home with vinegar and baking soda.

To clean your sink, you can prepare a mixture of vinegar, water, natural dish soap, and baking soda. Use equal parts of baking soda and vinegar to polish your bathroom fixtures. Chrome fixtures in the bathroom can be cleaned beautifully using toothpaste.
